Lucas Peak-Timutimu Head - Scenery Nook
Saturday 11 January 2020
Gulls and Variable Oystercatchers squarked with alarm as we got too close to their nests. We could see the gulls’ nests in a rock overhang/cave. Three Canada geese glided slowly on one of the pools. We drew back from the seal-viewing to have lunch and quieten the locals.
The walk to Scenery Nook was pushed along by a norwester that tried to blow our hats into the sea. We returned to the cars via Rocky Gully, bypassing Lucas Peak on its Akaroa Harbour side. Jillian Fulcher was our able guide.
We were: Jillian Fulcher (leader) , Susan Brechin, Gary Huish, Margot Bowden, Mary McKeown, John Robinson, Kyung Sang Lee, Youmie Kim, Joy Shroeder, Dorota Giejsztowt, Dan Pryce, Kerry Moore (KM)
