Governors Bay to Living Springs
Tuesday 5 November 2024
Our walk began in overcast, humid conditions and we enjoyed the low tide stroll around the Foreshore Track. Sights included: Ohinetahi homestead, pillow lava in the cliffs and a cute paradise duck family.
After a quick look at Allandale Jail we headed uphill via the main Living Springs walking track, noting the frequent traps and bait stations along the way. A cool breeze helped with our climb to the Outdoor Camping Centre for a lunch break, with great harbour views.
Bike trails looked a bit sticky from overnight rain, so we opted to walk down Bamfords Road. We walked the Foreshore Track again for our return to the cars and reflected on our scenic walk at the pub. Darcy noted that most of the places we had visited on this pleasant walk were new to him.
We were: Irene Kilgour (leader), Jean Hallam, Darcy Mawson and Sue Britain. SB
We settle for a hot drink at the camping ground, rather than water from a living spring
