Hidden Valley

Tuesday 10 Sept 2024

We were invited by Jonathan Carr of Hidden Valley Conservation Trust to go on this guided walk from the Purau-Port Levy Road to this splendid reserve above Purau Bay. The conservation trust now owns an area of land below Mt Evans and with the cooperation of farmers has created an excellent circuit. Our host guided us to the secluded gully where he boiled water for us to have a lengthy morning tea. The track zigged to a solitary tree where we had super views towards Purau and even over the Port Hills to the plains and alps. We then zagged on an interesting track through forest and emerged onto tussock farmland for a descent back to the track we’d come up.

We were: Jonathan Carr, Sonja Risa, Calum McIntosh, Anne Hunter, Milomir & Vesna Mojsilovic, Kyung Sang Lee, Raymond Ford, Eileen Mackey, Graham Townsend, Chris Leaver, Terry Thomsen, Joy Schroeder, Peter Umbers, John Robinson, Jane Liddle, Kerry Moore   KM
