Benmore Hut

Six keen trampers met at the West Melton Pub car park enthusiastic about today's 17km round trip. On the way we picked up Aarn to make seven. As we parked the cars at Benmore station, we were met by some strong winds, which were a prelude of things to come.

Initially we followed the Benmore stream up to the Annavale turn off, then it was following a four wheel drive track, which was steep in places, with strong winds prevailing. After 2.5 hours we arrived at the Benmore Hut for lunch. 

After lunch we followed the Benmore stream down a very muddy track, arriving back at the cars two hours after leaving the hut.
